If I am to truly prepare my students for the future they will meet upon college graduation, then I must adjust the way I teach and provide opportunities for them to practice the life skills they will need to excel. Their projects must compel them to tap into using those seven skills in a real-world way.
I am thinking of creating a project where they will each have a specialized skill necessary for a chemistry government contract. They will need to create a resume, form a team with other specialists, and bid for the contract. I will be fleshing out the details using some protocols with colleagues soon. It's a project toward the end of the year.
